Christopher Wedding is the Manager of R&D and Sustainability for Cherokee. His prior green building, clean energy and sustainability experience includes research, teaching and program implementation with the North Carolina Solar Center, the Office of Sustainability at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), the UNC Institute for the Environment and the Biomimicry Guild. In addition, Dr. Wedding is a Lecturing Fellow with the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University and has advised on several high profile LEED-certified projects, including two nationally recognized LEED Platinum buildings. He has also conducted research in rainforest ecology and sustainable agriculture in Central America and Spain and served as a teacher and cultural ambassador in Japan for the Japanese Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. Dr. Wedding received a BS in Environmental Science from Western Kentucky University, where he was a Goldwater Scholar in Math and Science and the Honors Program Scholar of the Year. He earned an MS in Environmental Science, Management and Policy as well as a PhD focused on green building, which combined studies in business, environmental science and management, and city and regional planning, from UNC. Dr. Wedding has published numerous professional articles, spoken at various national conferences and is a LEEDâ„¢ Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council. He resides in Chapel Hill with his wife and two children.
